You could say I’m a born whistleblower.
Not a rat or a tattle-tale, but literally, one vetted and certified to Carry a Whistle.
From Boss of the Sand Box, Cheerleader, Life Guard — to Veteran Public School Teacher/All Subjects, All Levels. An authentic real time Tweeter.
Like you, I have stories to tell. My life experiences, on and off the job, include near-misses, wild waves, ecstatic moments, lost friends; the stuff that happens between the shock of Birth and the surrender into Death.
Lessons we’re given to navigate the mysteries of Life.
Why might you want my artwork and writings in your inbox each week?
I create and share colorful paintings and narratives that you might appreciate because they invite good will, understanding, and connection.
(I stand with the resolute quintet who kept performing on the Titanic; I see no reason to stop sharing beauty, even as the ship goes down.)
When I was given My Whistle and Keys to Public Classrooms, my secret plan was to set up a realm that would be creative and fun, ‘the best of all possible worlds.’
The stage was mine to design, the actors mine to direct. So I established a Benevolent Monarchy with new subjects arriving every September to populate it, build fresh scenery, and audition for their parts.
I had ample access to books, equipment, props, and office supplies. My reign as Queen lasted over four decades, and from the start I noted that the learnings, the countless dramas and self-discoveries ‘in the room’ always reflected the patterns of people and situations that are both unique and universal.
My world involved children, families, bureaucracies, and teamwork. And yes, practical lessons were learned. But this ‘newsletter’ is not about classroom management, improving family life, business success, or ‘How To’ do anything or achieve any goal. It’s more about ‘brightening up the moment, as it is.’
The colors and shapes in artworks, the words we choose when telling stories, these have the power to reveal and highlight beauty, humor, and hope.

All of my artworks after 2016 were created with digital brushes using one eye and one finger on my iPad. That story is detailed in my post, The Waiting Room in the archives : https://sherrykillam.substack.com/p/the-waiting-room
You know that I love it! Keep whistling.
I enjoy every share and the beautiful art. Keep up please!
